FIMBA RULES

CATEGORIES

The World Championships categories are as follows:
Women: 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55 and 60 years over.
Men: Pre maxi (30), 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 65, 70 and 75 years over.

QUANTITY OF COUNTRIES AND TEAMS BY CATEGORY

The minimum quantity of countries for setting a category shall be three, and there shall not be less than four teams.

If an official category did not have a minimum of four teams, it shall play against the next lower category, but for the final standings and in case there are at least 2 teams from different countries, there shall be final games for the first place amongst the teams of their own category. The teams will receive the corresponding medals to their place and category.

AGE OF THE PLAYERS

Players have to be in the age of his/her category or reach it during the year of the tournament. Player cannot play in any higher age category.

MEDALS

No country may be worthy for both 1st and 2nd place awards in the same category. In the event more than one team of the same country plays in the same age category, they shall play amongst them until their elimination, so only one team qualifies for semifinals. In case than more of two teams of the same country could goes to the semifinals; the timetable should anticipate the mandatory elimination among them. There will be awarded with medals the fourth first places.

PLAYERS REGISTRATION

Players enabled to play are those: a) of appropriate age or whose birthday takes place within the current calendar year, b) proving their age previous to the start of the Championship, c) registered in the Team Roster of their team previous to the start of the tournament, d) who have paid their registration fee, e) who have presented his/her certificate of physical aptitude and f) who have signed a waiver of responsibilities. During the registration the team delegate shall submit the I.D. of all the players to the Organizing Committee, each certificate of physical aptitude and the released waivers signed by each participant. The registration cards will be given when these terms are fulfilled.

THE ROSTERS

The roster shall be integrated by a minimum of players according to the category and up to 15 players of the same category. In the men categories 30+, 35+, 40+, 45+ and 50+ and in the women categories 30+, 35+, 40+ and 45+ the roster shall have a minimum of 8 players. In the men categories 55+, 60+, 65+ and 70+ and in the women categories 50+, 55+ and 60+ the roster shall have a minimum of 10 players. Teams with less than 15 players will be able to fill it with a coach, and assistant or delegate up to 15 members in total.

CHANGES AND INCORPORATIONS

Changes and players' incorporations, coaches and/or auxiliaries may be made at the Registration Center, until the team starts the participation and shall be included in the team roster at the time of registration. This roster shall not be modified or enlarged in any way after the start of the tournament.

PLAYERS IN ANOTHER CATEGORY

There will not be allowed that any player plays simultaneously in two categories at the same championship.

PLAYING JERSEYS

At the time of registration, each team delegate shall inform the colors of the two sets of the mandatory play jerseys, one light and one dark, numbered from 4 to 15. He or she will inform the names and jersey numbers of the 12 players playing the first game of the championship. Thirty minutes before each next game the delegate shall inform to the score table the roster of the 12 players and jersey numbers for that game.
The team on the left side of the schedule shall use light jerseys. The team on the right side of the schedule shall use dark jerseys.

Jerseys may show the team country name, inscriptions and/or advertising. There will not be allowed discriminator images or inscriptions morally unaccepted. All the jerseys shall have in any front angle the FIMBA logo. (It is available on the website).

THE GAMES

All the games shall have the following score: a) Two points (2): For a win; b) One point (l): For a loss; Zero (0): For the team who fails to attend the game on the scheduled time and court or who leaves the game.

SUSPENSION AND CHANGES OF GAMES

In the case of suspension of a game due to any reason once started or prior its start, it shall not be rescheduled, while the Disciplinary Board shall decide the corresponding sanctions and their result. Once the tournament starts and with the game schedule already settled, there shall not be any changes in dates or games, nor any reschedule for any reason.

GAMES

Every game played shall not be played again for any reason, abiding by the Disciplinary Board decision as regards sanctions and results. All scheduled games shall be played.

TIE SCORE SYSTEM

In the event of a tie between two, three or more teams, the standings shall be defined as follows: Between two teams, the winner of the game qualifies, Among three or more teams, the Olympic procedure will be applied: a) Winners among themselves, b) If still remains, goals difference (for and against) among them, c) If still remains, the one who had achieved more goals within the qualification zone.

PLAYING RULES

Any playing rule not expressly modified herein, shall be governed by the regulations and general rules approved by F.I.B.A. Maxibasketball games shall be played in two (2) halves of 20 minutes each, divided into four (4) quarters of 10 minutes each.

REST BETWEEN QUARTERS

There shall be an obligatory 2-minute rest between the first and the second quarter, and between the third and the fourth quarter. There shall be an obligatory 10-minute rest between the first and the second half, i.e. between the second and the third quarter.

RESTART OF THE GAME

First quarter begins with a jump ball between both teams at the court centre circle. The rest of the quarters follow the rule of the alternate ball.

TIME OUTS

Each team may request three time outs during the first and second half, one time out in the first quarter and two time outs at the second quarter. During the second half, there shall be one time out in the third quarter and two time outs in the last quarter. Each over time shall have one time out per team.

SPECIAL RULES FOR UPPER CATEGORIES

The men categories of 60 and over and female of 50 and over will be played by the rule of 30-second of ball possession by team and will have 10-seconds for passing the middle court.

The men categories of 60 and over and female of 50 and over will have four time outs per half period, having the right to ask only two per quarter.

In these categories after a foul or a time out, the team attacking will inbound the ball at the 8, 30 meters mark of the opponent side of the court. In case of jump and according the arrow system, the team in charge of the inbound will do it at the 8, 30 meters mark of the opponent side of the court.

TEAM FOULS

A four fouls accumulation by team and per quarter will determine at the fifth foul, the sanction of two free throwing by the fouled player. The accumulation of four fouls is per quarter and shall be informed by the table of control in a visible way. All the quarters begin without accumulation of team fouls.

SCORE SHEETS

Score sheets shall be issued and filed by the Organizing Committee with the players and numbers submitted by the team delegate 30 minutes prior the game. Players shall be registered at the official roster. Any administration mistake shall be exclusive responsibility of the Organizing Committee and not of the participating teams. The captain of the team shall be the only responsible for signing the score sheet prior to the start of the game.

TEMPORARY SUSPENSION

Any player, coach or assistant, who is duly notified, ejected, disqualified or removed from a match, shall automatically accomplish with his/her suspension for one match.

EJECTION FROM THE CHAMPIONSHIP

Any aggression will be forwarded with the ejection from the championship.

SANCTIONS

It will be sanctioned by the corresponding rules: a) use of any non-prescription drugs, substances or medication of any kind, forbidden by the International Olympic Committee, b) the incorporation of a player or players forging their age to participate in an upper category than the corresponding, c) to the team which fails to attend a game scheduled in the Championship, d) to the team that doesn't show at the time scheduled or even being some player at the gym the team can't join it, e) to the team that withdraw previous to the end, or the end of a tournament or refuse to compete.
