The electrical engineer and inventor František Křižík from Plánice invented the regulation system of the arch lamp and the first electrical railway semaphore to be used in the Austro- Hungarian Monarchy and initialized the process of electrification in this country. Křižík deserves credit for the introduction of the electrical trams to the street of Prague.
František Křižík demonstrated one of his unique inventions - a singing, electrically-illuminated fountain- at the Jubilee Exhibition in 1891. A combination of a water dance, music and colours, the fountain is a work unique even by European standards. Expanded within in the renovation carried out on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of its creation, the fountain today features 3000 nozzles and 1248 underwater reflectors. Over 6000 viewers can enjoy productions of works by Czech as well as world classical artist.
